Volunteer, donate, or support the restoration

Join the Restoration

Weekend and midweek volunteer trips run regularly. Help plant trees, remove weeds, or guide visitors on this beautiful island sanctuary.

The Motuihe restoration is powered by volunteers. Whether you have a day, a dollar, or a long-term commitment to give, there is a way for you to contribute to this special place.

Give your time

Volunteer

Join a weekend or midweek trip. No experience needed — full training provided. Plant trees, work in the nursery, clear weeds, maintain tracks, or help at the summer kiosk.

Conservation Work

Over 453,000 native trees planted since 2000. Learn about nursery propagation, winter planting, rare plant recovery, and invasive weed control.

Monitoring & Citizen Science

Track kiwi, reptiles, penguins, and more. Volunteer-led monitoring programmes designed by expert ecologists across 40 baseline stations.

Give your support

Donate

Every contribution helps keep the restoration going — track maintenance, monitoring, weed control, nursery supplies, and equipment.

Plant a Tree

Sponsor a native tree as a gift. Grown in the island nursery and planted by volunteers during winter.
