Motuihe Trust requires funding to enable island operations such as track construction and maintenance, biodiversity monitoring (reptile or kiwi), weeding, guiding, nursery irrigation or equipment, plant propagation, planting and equipment maintenance. The Trust has no fixed income source and relies on grants, donations and a small amount of revenue generated from kiosk operations.
We would like to invite interested sponsors to support one or more of our many programmes.
Fluttering Shearwaters
For the first time in 60 years, fluttering shearwaters are nesting on one of our headlands — attracted by a solar-powered sound system which plays seabird calls at night.
We are seeking a sponsor to enable us to put in place a more structured programme to nurture our fledgling population and to make sure the birds thrive. Our aim is to build a permanent colony of shearwaters who return to our island every year to have their chicks.
Other Projects Seeking Sponsors
- Little blue penguins
- Electric four-wheel drive
- Wetland birds project
- Care and monitoring of New Zealand dotterels
